Basic/Intermediate Diagramming with CrimeZone

Course Description: The five-day, 40-hour, course discusses the principles and operation of Crime Zone™ software used for illustrating crime scenes. This in-depth, hands-on course will take you through the process of creating scale diagrams of various crime scene scenarios both indoors and outdoors. Diagrams will include floor plans of various structures including elements such as doors, furniture, walls, and windows. Diagrams will also include physical evidence that has been documented using various measuring techniques. There will be a “field” exercise where attendees will sketch and measure a “crime” scene and then complete a scale diagram of the scene using the software.

Fingerprint Identification & Classification Course
- Preparation to attain I.A.I. Ten-Print Examiner Certification
- The science of identification by friction ridge impressions
- Accurately identify the eight types of fingerprint patterns according to the Henry System of Fingerprint Classification, the NCIC System, and IAFIS System
- Analyze, compare, evaluate and verify fingerprint identifications - (The ACE-V Scientific Method for Friction Ridge Comparisons)
- Methods for taking legible inked fingerprints and Major Case and Elimination prints
- Photography of latent crime scene fingerprint impressions
- Preparation to present expert fingerprint testimony in a court of law
- Develop and recover latent fingerprint impressions through the use of powders, forensic light sources, and cyanoacrylate ester (Superglue) fuming
Certificates of completion will be awarded to those who successfully complete the course.
CSI- FIELD EVIDENCE TECHNICIAN
PURPOSE: This course is intended for sworn or civilian personnel who are
assigned to basic crime scene processing tasks that include crime
photography, latent fingerprint collection, crime scene diagramming, blood splatter collection, evidence packaging, record keeping, report writing, and other related tasks.
DATES: April 2- 6, 2012 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
COST: $260.00 includes registration and materials
LOCATION: Napa Valley College Criminal Justice Training Center – Room 1013
CERTIFICATIONS: P.O.S.T Certified - Plan IV
